JIM LOMBARDO
Jim is the President of ProfitLink Consulting. His work is focused on helping clients shift away from old operating paradigms by working smarter through the implementation of creative problem-solving techniques. Jim's 20+ years of experience in accounting and finance have given him the necessary skills to resolve a wide range of complex business issues for clients. This experience, coupled with a strong information systems background, provides the foundation for his project management expertise.
As the Controller / CFO for many of ProfitLink’s “Accounting Services” clients, Jim has been instrumental in the development and growth of this segment of the business, which has grown to over 25 active clients. Jim believes that cultivating strong business relationships and building solid partnerships is the cornerstone to achieving long-term success for small businesses. To this end, Jim has established affiliations with many CPA firms, banks, and key networking groups, enabling ProfitLink Consulting to build both its customer base as well as its alliance network.
One of Jim’s more prominent roles at ProfitLink has been providing Controller-level services to one of its clients, Today’s Collision Repair Centers. The initial projects included establishing controls and creating monthly analyses. After working with the owners to create a business plan, develop necessary banking relationships and implement forecasting and budgeting models, Jim assisted Today’s Collision in opening a second operating facility and more than doubling the size of their company. Jim’s goal is to help ProfitLink clients, such as Today’s Collision, achieve their business goals through streamlining systems, establishing controls, and building effective business plans.
Jim’s financial background is enhanced through his understanding of financial systems and his ability to implement customized solutions. He has led successful system conversions and developed ground-up financial systems through QuickBooks. After reviewing the processes at Learning Prep School, a ProfitLink client since 2000, Jim reengineered processes, which resulted in a 50% increase in the utilization of Learning Prep's financial system functionality. This project eliminated redundancies and improved the quality and timeliness of financial reporting to management. This business relationship evolved into a Controller-level position, whereby Jim manages the overall financial operations, including a yearly external audit. Jim provided the financial analysis needed to generate increased tuition supplements from the Commonwealth and double the school’s enrollment in five years.
Jim brings a variety of operational experiences to ProfitLink Consulting. He was Manager of Corporate Accounting at Keane, Inc. in Boston, MA; the Director of General Accounting at Sodexho Marriott Services in Waltham, MA; the Corporate Cash Manager at Bronner Slosberg Humphrey, in Boston, MA; and the Accounting Manager at Daka International, in Danvers, MA.
Jim is a graduate of Bentley College in Waltham, MA, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy. He has also successfully passed all parts of the Uniform C.P.A. Exam, as well as the Certified Cash Manager Exam.
